HuangPi Road South station Metro Line 1
- This station leads you into the largest subway system in China, all built since 1995. It has 162 stations and 225 kilometres of track. It opens even far parts of the city to you and you could be one of the 2.5 million or more a day who ride it.(3 mins)
Xin Tiandi Entertainment Hub
- This is a purely pedestrian shopping, eating and entertainment area, created from traditional shikumen ("stone gate") houses on narrow alleys. There is a modern shopping mall with a cinema complex, and some adjoining houses which now serve as book stores, cafes and restaurants, many of those up-market with foreign cuisines. Xin Tiandi has an active nightlife more to do with sitting and strolling around the setting than loud dancing. (across street)
Huaihai Lu shopping district
- One of Shanghai's most prominent commercial streets, this is a lengthy boulevard of top quality stores, restaurants, showrooms and designer label glitter. (5 mins)
City Supermarket
- A small but comprehensive supermarket, it is a place to find Western foods that are not always easy to come by. It's pricey, but there's a good selection, and a well stocked deli. Daily 8am to 10pm. Free delivery over RMB100. (15 mins)

- Xin Ji Shi (Shanghainese)
Spread over two floors , serving classical Shanghainese dishes and very popular, particularly at weekends when you might have to queue. Part of a chain through Shanghai. (5 mins)
Din Tai Fung (Taiwanese dumplings)
This restaurant makes highly rated xiao long bao; soupy pork nuggets that are Shanghai's signature snack. Also on its menu are basics like wonton soup, braised bamboo shoots and sweet-smoky fried fish. It's in a basement under an athletic club.(5 mins)
Fountain (Fusion food)
This is a contemporary minimalist style bistro which features a mix of cuisines , French, Asian and Mediterranean. Char-grilled burgers, steaks, rotisserie chicken, salads, tapas and an oyster bar offer a vigorous and unusual range of items. (5 mins)

HongQiao Airport

Before Pudong, this was Shanghai's main airport. It remains China's fifth busiest. It still has international flights, to Japan and Korea and there are plans for expansion.(30mins)
Pudong International Airport

The airport is organised around two main passenger terminals, flanked on both sides by three parallel runways. Current airport masterplans call for the building of a third passenger terminal, a satellite terminal and two additional runways by 2015. A station for the Shanghai Maglev Train is sited between the passenger teminals, providing the world's first commercial high-speed maglev service over 32 kms to downtown Pudong in 7 minutes and 20 seconds. Yew Chung Shanghai Int'l School
- The first international school to be recognized by the Chinese government in 1993, it now has three campuses in Shanghai. Its educational philosophy is to unite the best elements of both Eastern and Western traditions. To that end, it has a Co-principal structure; one Western and one Chinese working side by side. Rainbow Bridge International School
- Rainbow Bridge International School is for pre-school children. It opened in 1997. Currently it has eighteen pre-school classes, five kindergarten classes, and seven elementary classes. There are 350 students from thirty one countries. (20 mins)
Carrefour - Xietu Road, Xuhui District

This is one of 7 Carrefours in Shanghai. The French commodities giant offers an extensive range of imported Western groceries, fresh fruits, vegetables, sporting goods, clothing, shoes, music, electronic items, and books. Open daily 8am to 10pm. (20 mins)
Mint
- A Bar with a Bund view. The bar and the dance floor can get crowded. Mint introduced hip hop to Shanghai. It is cutting edge in dance taste and a hot spot for younger expats and locals. It has a very nice terrace and view for breathers.(10 mins)

- Opened in 1999 from the original in Hong Kong, it serves high quality Euro-Asian fusion backed by a good bar and a terrace with a splendid view. Regarded as the birthplace of the Shanghai international restaurant scene.

Shanghai Museum
- Shanghai Museum possesses a collection of 120,000 precious works of ancient Chinese art. Its rich and high-quality collection of Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy is specially celebrated. It has eleven galleries and three special temporary exhibition hall.(20 min walk)
Shanghai Art Museum
- The Museum occupies a heritage building that once overlooked a racecourse, now People's Square. There are twelve exhibition halls on five floors showing modern and traditional fine art. Temporary art shows are also organized regularly. Visitors can take part in sketching and painting lessons. (20 mins walk )
Shanghai Grand Theater
- Shanghai Grand Theater in People's Square was built 1998. The theater covers an area of 60,000 square meters with 10 stories, two underground and two for lofts. It houses three stages, a 1,800-seat main stage for ballets, operas and concerts, a 600-seat medium theater for chamber orchestras and a small 200-seat auditorium for dramas and fashion shows.
